Merilla graduated from Tufts University in 2017 with a Bachelor's of Science in Biopsychology and Classical Studies, on the Pre-Medical track. She has always been interested in Neuroscience, and was ecstatic to join the Harrison Laboratory in September of this year. She has primarily been working on bioinformatics, specifically RNA-sequence analysis, in experiments that study gene expression in 3'UTR. In addition, she works on PC12 line cell culture experiments studying gene expression. After her time in the Harrison Lab, she plans to pursue an MD.
